Be sure to save that receipt, you’ll need it if for some strange reason you have an extraordinary experience.

This is not your grandma’s rose bush!

Long on charm, high on color… Coral Cove Rose is also really short on growing issues. You can’t kill an Easy Elegance Rose. Bugs won’t eat all the leaves. You won’t have icky diseases like black spot or mildew either. New selections prove their incredible pest and disease resistance just to earn a spot in the collection offered to increase the beauty of your landscaping and garden design. Shrub roses are the easiest to grow of all rose varieties and Easy Elegance is even better than that.

Coral Cove Rose bushes are compact and will be a great long blooming addition for many spots in your yard. At only 2-feet tall, they easily tuck beneath even low windows and will be fabulous as a driveway hedge that stretches all the way to the street. Very cold hardy, these new rose shrubs will be a cinch for anyone in zones 5-9 to grow. Oh, and don’t worry about having the clip of thousands of spent blooms. Shrub roses don’t need that to look great. Low maintenance and drought tolerant, once establish. Easy Elegance Roses also will easily adapt to many soils and climates.

Coral Cove blooms are a fantastic fusion of hot and pastel colors.

The outer petals and fat rosebuds appear in an pink-orange tone that can be described as persimmon. Each of the many layers of petals grow softer, becoming a whisper of coral at the yellow center. Very yummy natural confections, even while they age.

Coral Cove Rose will continue blasting out vibrant warm color from late spring right up to that first hard frost. An ever blooming selection that you won’t need to spend much time shaping. This bewitching little beauty will form a neatly rounded, dense mound all on it’s own. Leaving you tons of time to kick back and admire the scads of delicious 3 inch wide blooms.

Campanula ‘Viking’ is going to change your view of bellflowers completely. Get ready for a love affair that isn’t a flash in the pan two-week stand. Perennial flowers just get better every year ...

There is something undeniably romantic about the blooming presence of old fashioned bellflowers. The blued lavender blooms of Peachleaf Bellfower are a sight to behold in early summer. And then, the magic is over. Undignified and flopping about, the common bellflower is a mess in your garden. Campanula ‘Viking’ is going to change your view of bellflowers completely. Get ready for a love affair that isn’t a flash in the pan two-week stand.

Perennial gardens everywhere in zones 5-8 will be so much lovelier with Campanula ‘Viking’ in May through July. Fat lavender blooms erupting on very upright stems, for weeks on end. The breeding for a compact plant will be the reason that this bellflower won’t be found lolling on the soil surface. No flopping and a vastly extended flowering period. A perennial flower destined to win your heart and be awarded a prized spot in your yard or flower garden.

Do be sure to give Viking all day sun for best flowering and vigor. One of the beauties of Campanula of all types (and there are oodles of them) is that they don’t have issues with pests and diseases some perennial plants can be prone to. You won’t have any problems with it spreading like wildfire and taking over your planting space or creeping into the lawn either. Viking is very well behaved. No runners and the seed is sterile, making it no garden thug you will regret planting forever more.

Campanula Viking will do well in average garden soil, but be prepared to give it consistent moisture. Bellflowers will not reward you with great vigor in heavy clay soils; prepare a well drained planting space. With the proper foundation, you’ll find that the superior strength and vigor of this bellflower, paired with months of luscious fat purple blooms, draws interesting visitors to your garden. Hummingbirds and butterflies will be magnetized to your new stand of Campanula Viking.

You won’t be sorry for adding this perennial plant to your front foundation plantings. The compact nature will keep this perennial in great shape. At only 18 inches tall in full bloom, be sure to plant your Viking Campanula in the middle to front of your border gardens. For those who enjoy a sampling of cut flowers extending the garden to bouquets in the house, Viking is an excellent addition to your cutting garden. For cottage garden and English garden plantings, here you have a winner in plumping up the romantic theme. In your garden or landscape, this lovely and nicely mannered perennial will mature to 24 inches across.

New to the US gardening scene for 2011, Campanula ‘Viking’ PPAF is a Plants Nouveau introduction. You can count on the discerning judgment of anything Angela presents. Plants Nouveau has strict standards in deeming a new perennial plant fit for growing. This gorgeous new bellflower is the breeding work of Arie Blom and A-B Cultivars. This is just one more phenomenal perennial flower crafted by the Netherlands breeder who brought us the Cone-fections Echinacea series. Thanks Arie!

Say hello to a great new perennial plant offering you scensational color and easy beauty for spring flowers. St. Benedictine Dianthus is really a lovely little source of early season vibrant color well worth a spot in the landscape and garden.

Carpeting blooms so divine,

Introducing Dianthus gratianopolitanus ‘St. Benedict’

Clearly beyond pink. Just look at the brilliance of that bloom. Imagine a perennial plant forming a sliver blue carpet covered with hundreds of these scented flowers in spring. Against the uniquely blue foliage, St. Benedict Dianthus is quite an arresting show. An instant pairing of glorious color springs to mind, I can see the low sweep of these spicy little blooms in front of Gold Variegated Iris (Iris pallida ‘Aureo Variegata’).

Variegated Iris
Image courtesy of Missouri Botanical Garden.

Quite an amazing spring rock garden scene would be created with two of these perennial plants, and such a planting situation does both of them justice. St. Benedictine Dianthus, like all Cheddar Pinks, is an excellent easy to grow pink flowering perennial that forms a low mat that is a lovely color both in and out of bloom. While the silvery blue grass-like foliage is not quite as dramatic as those late spring flowers, you will find that it makes a lovely unique note amidst many greener leaved plants in the garden.

If you are wondering where the ‘Flower of God’ comes from, Dianthus is the combination of the Greek words for flower and god. We shouldn’t be surprised; the sight of Cheddar Pinks in bloom during May to June really is quite heavenly. Other forms of Dianthus are known as Sweet William and Cottage Pinks. Dianthus gratianopolitanus is a different variety than either of them and imparts a spicier scent much like cloves. The common name of Cheddar Pinks comes from their source of origination, an area known as Cheddar Gorge in southwest England where they grow in wild, natural abandon.

Copyright © Intrinsic Perennial Gardens 2008

For best vigor and beauty, St. Benedictine Dianthus requires excellent drainage and soil with a 6.6-7.8 pH level. If your soil is more acidic, you can bring it into the desirable balance with periodic additions of lime. You want a full sun spot for this alpine style glory of spring. The more silvered than most foliage of St. Benedictine reaches 6 inches tall and forms a 12 inch wide clump. The splendid almost beyond pink blooms appear on stems no taller than 8 inches. Blooms measure 1” wide with 4-5 serrated edge petals.

St. Benedictine Dianthus is hardy for zones 5-10 and being introduced to the world by Intrinsic Perennial Gardens. For those of you living in the deeper reaches of the hardiness zones, you will do best to give Dianthus filtered shade. St. Benedictine is really a lovely little source of early season vibrant color well worth a spot in the landscape and garden.

Tiarella is a wonderful plant for your garden or landscape in part to filtered shade. They bloom in a showy, lacy eruption of white to whisper pink in spring.

Evergreen ground cover tends to be a rather boring group of plants, they are generally just green and well … creepy. Everything changes when you try running forms of Tiarella, which is semi-evergreen perennial plant.

Tiarella cordifolia ‘Ocotoraro’
Image courtesy of Plants Nouveau © 2008

The foliage of Tiarellas is always cut in very interesting shapes and marked nicely with black patterns. The new spring growth will always be a brighter, lighter green than last seasons’ or late summer color. The really stunning part about having ground cover forms of Tiarella is the light, airy blooms they produce beginning early in the spring.

In perennial gardens for shady spots, you will find both clumping and spreading forms of what is commonly known as Foam Flower. The proper name for this group of plants is Tiarella. There aren’t that many forms of spreading Tiarella that are beautiful, so the introduction of the River Series has been causing some excitement among plant collectors. Last year we featured Tiarella cordifolia ‘Delaware’. Now you can get a first hand peek at the rest of the current new releases.

From the genius breeding work of Sinclair Adam from Dunvegan Nursery in Pennsylvania, comes this wonderful selection of flowing flowering ground covers. In regions beyond zone 5, this plant may very well be perennial due to extreme winter temperatures. With good snow cover as insulation, it will not die back, but be there and nicely green when spring thaw arrives. Late frost spells will never make this flowering plant in your garden or landscaping look zapped, they adore cold weather. Frost and a late snow will do little to impair the blooming charm.

The Tiarellas in the River Series grow 4-6” high with a spread of 2-3 feet in two or three years. Unlike other evergreen groundcovers like Pachysandra and Ivy, Tiarellas are good mannered bed fellows. You won’t find this lovely flowing foliage choking the life out of your shrubs, hostas and other perennial plants. With the traditional forms of evergreen groundcovers, it is an annual to seasonal chore keeping it cut back from the life space of other plants in your landscape or garden. Pachysandra over a couple of decades can get so thick and determined; I have seen it push over ornamental fences out of the ground!

Tiarella cordifolia ‘Lehigh’
Image courtesy of Plants Nouveau © 2008

You’ll be delighted to know that once established, Tiarella plants will deal with drought quite nicely. While they will grow and fill faster with consistent moisture, a little dryness will not kill your planting off. It is best to give them loose soil that is rich in organic matter like compost that they are natives of on the forest floor. Good drainage is also important to the family of Foam Flower perennials.

While they will in the cooler regions of the US do very nicely in some sunshine, your Tiarella plants will be lusher if they only receive morning sun. This is especially true in really hot summer areas. Some sunshine is advisable for best flowering habits. Like ferns, Tiarella is a plant that will grow in some really difficult shaded places but will perform faster with filtered or direct light in the cooler parts of the day.

The entire River Series of Tiarella cordifolia should be easy to find for early shopping in 2010. All five plants were released to growers in 2009, making availability for this spring more prevalent.

It seems we’ve run into some moving issues here. The trip from server to server did not go well at all.

Unfortunately, its going to take some time to unpack … It was easy to get all the articles unboxed and placed just so really fast. Now solving the photo issue is left.

Nothing like WordPress to make one absolutely crazy!

Code is only beautiful if you speak PHP fluently. And people think that figuring out plants is difficult. They’re a piece of cake compared to code.

Don’t despair … at least you won’t be the one pulling out your hair trying to make sense of the moving boxes!

Beautiful News about the future of your garden will be back up and running again soon.

Sherlock is on the case but somehow a magician might be the better person for this job. Pulling a rabbit out of the hat would be the perfect instant solution to the problem.

Two rabbits produced already but the big one, well … he’s in there somewhere. The one with the images in his grubby little paws. He’s now following the magic wand directions at all. Maybe it would be easier to find his wee fluffy tail if the magic wand was replaced with a wee little shotgun? Seems to me he’d be jumpin’ out of the hat instead of cowering down there in the corner somewhere.

Update Friday, January 8th … Missing rabbit located! Waving about shotguns does help after all. But now there’s a newly discovered varmit still lurking about in the dark shadows inside this hat. Now if only I could fix the fancy slide show’s issues too. WordPress must sell more libations of the alcoholic persuasion worldwide than any other form of website programming in captivity today. (Many website owners agree. We suspect a marketing ploy in partnership with Anheiser-Busch, among all other breweries.)

It is not the approaching frigid weather that can cause a late season plant installation to be a loss. It has nothing to do with the fact that the plant is not rooted into the soil of its new home. Yes, a harsh winter without sufficient snow cover can cause a loss of plants in your garden or landscape. Winter plant loss is one of the drawbacks to living in a cold climate.

Cold climate gardeners, spring is not the right time for planting.

Fall is a great time for adding new plants to your yard and garden. Did you know you can plant right up to when frost stays in the ground? If done right, you will always enjoy success. If done wrong , you are almost guaranteed to loose plants in areas with a frigid winter climate.

Anyone living in the Snowbelt knows that over the winter…

The ground and everything in it or on it rises and falls through freezing and thawing temperature fluctuation. Thinking that this action of Nature applies only to the patches applied to holes in the road is an error. It also causes the loss of late season planting of ornamental plants.

Some plants bought in ball and burlap are safe from winter heaving.

The only plants that would not suffer injury or death from freezes and thaws would be those heavy, larger sized woody plants that were field grown in ground soils. These root systems usually weigh enough to not rise out of the insulation of the ground around them.

Lightweight nursery containers are so clean and easy to carry.

They will also be the first improperly autumn installed plants to heave above the soil line. This expanding and shrinking of the ground over the winter season affects any small or lightweight perennial, shrub and even small trees. It isn’t that you can’t plant after a shrub, a tree or even perennial has gone dormant either. You can successfully plant in your landscape and garden until frost sets into the soil and remains all day. As long as you are sure that the plant was thriving before the leaves fall for the season; it is better off in the insulating ground than on top of it.

Many people don’t grasp the importance of proper planting prep.

It is possible to dig a hole that is just large enough to comfortably accommodate the root plug earlier in the year and succeed with such time saving methods. In this situation, the plants have to work harder to spread roots into the surrounding soil, but will overcome the hardship when planted in spring or early summer. The best way to install any plant for faster root development, is in providing several inches of loose soil around and under the containerized root ball.

Bare minimum digging techniques spell disaster in autumn.

As a landscape contractor in Michigan I suffered few losses though planting until when frost remains in the soil. I didn’t plant any differently on October 25th than in late May. That is until the day that Helen arrived to have a fabulous new entry garden created.

Helen’s garden was installed in mid October.

By spring only 20% of the plants in this destined to be gorgeous garden remained. The situation was that beneath the mulch were two layers of weed barrier over hard compacted clay. I wanted to remove it and deeply till the soil. Unfortunately, I was emphatically told we were not to disturb the weed free space. Customer being king, I complied with their demands. We were allowed only to make a necessary sized slit in the landscape fabric for each plant installation… for hundreds of perennials.

It was very difficult planting in that rock hard clay.

Only small hand trowels could be used for digging. Upon completion of planting, I checked everything to make sure all was done correctly. The homeowners were ecstatic. Thanking us all profusely, they waved goodbye on October 21st. Two weeks later they called complaining that several plants found halfway out of the ground. No need to drive out there though, they had already been replanted.

If this were true, I would have found them at final inspection.

The following June, I received a nasty letter from Helen reporting that 80% of the new plants were dead. Our winter was mild with excellent snow cover. I had no other plant losses even those projects that were planted after hers. Even the plants in my own garden hastily sunk in November were doing great. Nothing unusual or questionable was planted there.

This supposed disaster was unbelievable and a mystery.

Then I remembered the husband’s report of root balls sitting half way out of the soil before frost arrived. I made an appointment to meet with the couple that evening. Upon arriving I was greeted with a huge expanse of mulch marred by intermittent empty holes. Then I learned that another landscaper had already visited and told them exactly what I was prepared to. The man admitted the disaster was entirely his fault.

Lack of proper soil preparation cause of the planting’s failure.

Always dig your hole wide enough and deep enough to allow at least this much back fill with nicely loosened soil when planting in late autumn. Plants that are installed with at least 3-inches of loose soil all the way around the roots, as well as under them, will survive the ground heaving them up into the frigid air. Why?

The entire section of disturbed soil will rise and fall in one piece.

When the ground heaves any patches or plugs rise above the rooted in and stabilized whole. Without the barrier of freshly loosened soil, the bare roots of the foreign object are pushed up out of the insulating soil. Acting as a blanket of insulation, the loosened soil moves up and down with the weather protecting your new plant.

Helen’s plants not only died from improper autumn planting…

They completely disappeared. Roots, potting medium and all. The winter wind carried them far, far away from the huge expanse of her once again very empty mulch bed. This is one reason why using landscape fabric is not any benefit to enjoying a lovely flower garden. Loose soil is your plant’s best friend.

The only rechargeable lawn mower with macho power. Garden Turbo is one mean and green mowing machine. Finally, a cordless lawn mower that mow over an acre on one charge.

Before you buy a rechargeable lawn mower, read this unbiased review!

Buy Turbo Garden Mower

The most powerful cordless lawn mower on Earth.

The liberation of the alternative power lawn mower.

Now you can mow your lawn without the hinderance of an electrical cord and finish the job in one day. There now a really macho electric rechargeable lawn mowers that can mow over an acre on one charge. If you’ve seen on cordless lawn mower, you haven’t seen them all. Being the landscaper’s daugher that I am, I got kind of curious about whether these cordless lawn mowers were as wimpy as they sound. Surprise! I did a study of features and actaul people who have really put these new earth friendly lawn tools to use.

Can you get a really good cut from a rechargeable lawnmower? Yes, you can!

The biggest issue people have with a average cordless electric lawn mowers is the battery is too small for the task. Tall grass and wet grass puts far too much strain on the engineered power source. Lots of folks are complaining that their cordless lawn mowers are worthless. Your run of the mill rechargeable lawnmower is designed to run for 45 minutes in dry grass that is mowed without fail on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Some parts of the growing season, the grass can get ridiculously long in seven days time. Additionally, if you have long spell of rainy days, it is pretty difficult to mow your lawn every seven days like clockwork.

The Garden Turbo rechargeable lawn mower … 2.5 hours per full charge!

This is only the minimum full power mowing time on a single solid charge. You can get up to 4 hours of powerful lawn mowing action from Garden Turbo Help save our earth with cordless lawn mowers. Plus, in a few years when it is time to replace your battery, Garden Turbo’s manufacturer won’t force you buy some specially designed battery. Your new Garden Turbo TGP-CLM-8 mower uses a standard NiCad battery that you can purchase anywhere. Tons of lift power and enough juice to mow even a lawn that is an acre or more … on one full charge! Now that is what you call a mean green lawn mowing machine.

Don’t just take my word as why you should buy a Garden Turbo mower.

This unique rechargeable lawnmower is the leader of the pack in the same price bracket. Is it really worth buying a less mean mowing machine just to save $50 on a currently offered rebate? The Worx ECO 24v model Help save our earth with rechargeable lawn mower hopes you will. Be forewarned though, if the battery charger dies you won’t be able to replace it on that pricey Worx cordless electric lawn mower.

The Neuton CE6 does have a side clipping chute, but think again.

You have to buy the battery charger separate and are forever bound to purchase batteries from Neuton. Both the Neuton CE6 and Worx ECO 24v rechargeable lawn mower will only run for 45-60 minutes per single full charge when the batteries are NEW. Additionally, both of these cordless lawn mowers will not run near that long in tall grass or wet grass due to excess strain on your power supply.

Don't let the slugs eat you out of yard and garden. Learn how to stop slugs from eating your plants by selection. Flowers and plant slugs don't like to eat ...

Stop the slugs eating flowers in your yard.

There are some beautiful plants that slugs don’t like to eat. Here is a planting tip that you may find really helpful if you are really plagued by the garden pest slug.

Control planting as a defense mechanism!

You probably don’t think so at the moment, but slugs are rather picky about what they eat. If you arrange your flower beds with careful planning before planting, you could protect some of the plants that are more attractive to slugs. Installing barrier plantings with plants that repel slugs would definitely be to your advantage.

It has been discovered that the astringent smell of Astrantia foliage is not to their liking. Slugs don’t like to eat Astrantia, nor do they want to pass through a row of them.

Astrantia ‘Ruby Wedding’

Most plants that stop slugs from eating your flowers won’t deal with the same planting conditions as hostas. However, this isn’t the only places gardeners have problems with slugs eating their plants. To assist you in halting the havoc in your garden or landscaping, here is a most amazing assortment of plants that slugs don’t like to eat.

Perennial Plants

Slug control with plant selection is continual.

You will be able to enjoy hostas with no holes in the leaves after all when choosing the waxy coated blue hosta plants. Just remember that slugs are there for the moisture and the food. Space your plants farther apart and you take away the conditions they prefer. This allows light and airflow to change the environment in your planting beds.

Learning about the different approaches to getting rid of slugs in your garden can be really helpful to protect the plants that you love as much as the garden slug does. You’ll find all methods used to control slugs, both commercial and homemade discussed in Secrets of a Slug-Free Garden here on Lost In The Flowers.

More great tips on the right way to plan the private outdoor living areas of your yard. The garden is not a landscape but a special place where home spills outdoors ...

Continued from Elements of Garden Design – chapter one 4-19-09

It is always possible to upgrade a mulch path in the future.

Copyright Lost In The Flowers 2003

In the beginning, you will want to put as much of your available budget into patio and plants than a boring walkway. Mulch is a great less-mud solution. Get the garden going for some enjoyment and emotional rewards, then worry about a investing in path paving later.

Lawn pathways will force you to bag mow between all your lovely planting beds. A lawn in seed will create a lot more weeding chores for you too. If mowed without it all being caught, your gardens will look like someone made an attempt to return them to lawn. A nightmare none of you will be happy to encounter. Mulch is definitely the least expensive and sustainable solution.
Seclusion will be important to anyone who lives close to neighbors.

Courtesy of Creative Commons 2.0

Top of the list of needs for 98% of my design clients is privacy in the backyard. You have a few choices, such as fence, masonry walls and evergreen hedges. The amount of space you have will definitely dictate what real options you have. In a small yard, use of space will be hugely important and a big hedge could eat up your garden area quickly. A living wall means you will have to research to make sure the shrubs will not get too wide.

Small yards are usually best secluded with walls and fences. This is the only way to get instant privacy. A hedge will take years to mature and fill. Walls and fences never water, fertilizer or trimming. They cost more up front but nothing over the years. A really narrow privacy screen shrub will require so many to not have gaps they get very expensive to install. If space is at a minimum, your best choice will be a hardscape barrier. The added value is the heightened interest of leafy and flowering plants against a wall or fence.

Natural lighting control is of great importance.

Copyright Lost In The Flowers 2003

The sweltering sun early evening sun is not going to set a lovely dinner location. You need shade for your living room. Remember you will spend the most time in it over the warm months of the year. Do you have a mature shade tree just waiting to be put to use? Newer homes may not have this luxury available until some years from now.

The fastest shade source will be a pergola, ramada or awning unless you want to be patient for a decade or so. For the most rapid tree shade you will want to make sure you pick one that will not take over your yard with roots. I suggest you check out Paulownia x elongata, a hybrid Royal Empress tree.

Not all gardens have enough room to add shade as large as a tree.

Think about what you want to grow in your garden. The small yard belonging to a person who longs for full sun flowering plants and fresh vegetables needs to think about the future availability of needed sunshine. A tree will create an ever-increasing shaded area that over time will force you to completely change the kinds of plants you will be able to grow.

If you have the space to allow a shady area and full sun, you will be able to grow a far larger variety of lovely ornamentals. Plus the added benefit of being able to cool off on a hot day. The shelter of a leafy canopy is the perfect place to put your feet up and relax while enjoying a lovely garden surrounding. There are few places you can experience that will give you this amount of peace and tranquility.

Copyright Lost In The Flowers 2001

All back yards need some lawn areas to accommodate pets and children.

A family sized home needs to have grassy stretches to give growing legs a place to burn off their energy. For empty nesters, some lawn expanses will add an element of space that is very welcome to the eye. It all is very dependent on the amount of property you have and the uses you need to be able to get from the available area.

Even if all you children have grown and left home, the resale of your property will require it to be attractive to any buyer who needs the number of bedrooms you have. While it may be tempting to do away with all lawn expanses, it will be a wiser selling point if the new owner has a place for a dog or children to romp.

Breakup the Knock Out Rose monoculture.

There are other easy to grow roses.

Knockout Roses are everywhere creating the SOS rose planting virus.

Granted they are an excellent landscape rose of high value for many reasons. I fear that they will spread so thick from sea to sea they will become as boring as burning bushes and yews. Knockouts are all incredibly disease resistant which is what makes most of us shun the very idea of growing beautiful rose bushes in our yards. Who has time for all that fussing and coddling? The Knockout Rose collection has heavy blooming, hardy roses that will work in anyone’s garden color scheme. As all roses do, Knockouts are also very drought resistant once established. Oh yes, and the infamous pests that feast on rose foliage aren’t too attracted to the Knockout shrub roses.

Knockout Roses get tons of press coverage.

The plants also have an army of nurseries and box stores selling them too. It isn’t any hype to say that Knockout Roses are all the latest rage. Landscapers and homeowners alike love the entire series of these easy to grow roses. The problem as I see it is that the entire nation will soon have the same 6 shrub roses plastered everywhere.

Too much of a good thing makes it get old really fast.

Where is the variety … the spice in life, if everywhere you look every yard and shopping center has the same dang roses clogging up the scene? Maybe my mind and eye are far too much into the design aspect of landscape and garden. I balk at the notion that we all have to have the same old roses or any plant for that matter because it is easy to grow and colorful. Perhaps it is my reaction to watching my Dad plant the same three shrubs on hundreds of residential properties my entire life. His idea of variety is to alter the layout and grouping of things. Whatever it is, if you could look past all the marketing hoopla about Knockout Roses you’ll see what everyone’s missing out on.

Let me introduce you to Easy Elegance Roses.

Are you ready for this? They are an even better easy keeper rose collection than the over populating Knockout roses. Better? How about if I let you make your own judgment on Easy Elegance roses versus Knockouts based on the facts. Here’s the biggest difference and the clincher for your decision.

Easy Elegance Roses have a 2-year guarantee from the breeder.

Not from where you purchased them but from the company that mass produces them for your nursery to buy them and offer them to homeowners. Now that is what you call sticking your money where your mouth is. Do you think Knockout Roses would refund your money up to 2 years after you buy one and plant it? Heck no they wouldn’t. Easy Elegance Roses were bred to be top performers in bloom and leaf.

Easy Elegance Roses are the best bet you’ll find.

Pim Ling is so confident that anyone can succeed in growing his roses with ease, he offers you these terms and conditions for satisfaction or your money back:

Applies to homeowner use only

Limit of $60, or two per household

Refund will be in the form of money back (please allow 4-6 weeks for processing)

Not valid until after June 15th of each year

Easy Elegance® will administer guarantee for all growers.

Guarantee may be voided subject to severe weather trends, grower maintenance, or poor retail management.

Guarantee does not include animal or pest damage.

You have 18 lovely Easy Elegance Roses to choose from, not a mere 7.

Knockout only has 7 different rose plants and a whole lot more invested in advertising too. The heaviest petal count with Knockouts is approximately 25. Easy Elegance has selections that have over 50 petals per rose! Plus they are very hardy own root rose bushes with super pest and disease resistance that bloom all season long. No chemical roses that anyone can grow. Need I say more? Say hello to the two latest releases in the Easy Elegance Rose collection for 2009.

An excellent yellow shrub rose for zones 4-9 that matures to 3′-5′ tall. You’ll have wonderful all season color from the heavily recurring High Voltage Rose. Flowers fully double and fragrant with a petal count of 22. That’s another mark for Easy Elegance Roses, most of them are fragrant not just one single petal bloom variety. Get your hands on the lovely High Voltage Rose today by following this link.

Just look at that magnificent wonder! The Kashmir Rose boasts an incredible 50 petal count per bloom. Disguised like a tea rose and just as wonderful for cutting and taking indoors, Kashmir isn’t fragrant but it makes up for that in decadent beauty. Rich deep red roses 3″ wide will be belting out vibrant color from May through frost. Kashmir is a low growing landscape rose maturing to about 2.5′ high. Alas, no online retailer has seen the need to sell this particular variety. Check around in your area, there might be a nursery that has Kashmir Rose in stock.
